UNSOLVED________
the story of an Austin, TX rock band
This is/was the website for an Austin, TX rock band, the Unsolved, which existed from October 2002 until June 2004.

Original member Tom Strubbe got the band's name from a conspiracy book that first lead guitar player Rocky Severino had. He was thumbing through it when they were discussing what to call the band and one of the Chapters was entitled "The Unsolved" and it stuck.
Given that nothing in life is really solved and we do not really know what we do not know much less what we do know as things change so often, it seemed appropriate.
As earlier noted, Tom Strubbe was the original member. Rocky Severino quickly joined then drummer Anthony Kolar hopped on board and we went through a few bass players really quickly until Shannon Mikulas stayed on for a few years until we broke up.
Marc Curry was the lead guitarist for almost the entire time the Unsolved were around. Rocky was there until Sept. 2003 when Marc took over all lead guitar duties.
Ben Ramirez and Ruben Morales were both drummers for the Unsolved sporadically.
Like many bands and events in life that are here today, gone tomorrow, the Unsolved broke up in June 2004 and went their separate ways. Shannon and Marc started a band called Drought. Tom still plays solo acoustic shows and drums for bands on occasion and uses the band name Tom Phoenix.
Sadly, the Unsolved only released one CD in early 2004 entitled "Testing the Waters". Two demos were also released but to no avail. We feel we could have recorded several more CDs showcasing the band's talent, drive, vision, and sound but we could not get management, financial backing, nor the time off from day jobs and other commitments to get it done. So much potential that went to waste. But such is life sometimes.
We have much enjoyed the time and times we spent together as well as the many fans who came to our shows. It was a good time. If someone were to pay us $5000 or so, we might be willing to get back together for a reunion show or shows but we have all moved on.
What is it Marc Curry wrote in the first line of the first song "Lucky" on the Unsolved's "Testing the Waters" CD? "I look around, everything's changin', everyone just comes and goes..."
And we leave you with Tom Strubbe's lyric on "Long Hard Road" from that same CD "Because it's a long, hard road I've traveled, and only time will tell if it will ever pay..."
